Oxeye daisy

1.  My father knew those [oxeye daisies] as moon pennies; that’s a Yorkshire name [Camberwell Old Cemetery, London Borough of Southwark, June 2014].

2.  Moon daisies were known to some Derbyshire children of my acquaintance in pre-war days by the delightful name of moon pennies [Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, November 1993].

3. My experience is the commonplace one of pulling petals off a flower (e.g. dog daisy) and saying ‘She loves me/she loves me not’, etc. (Somerset 1950ish) [Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, January 1993].
