Devil’s-bit scabious

0181. Told to me at the Highland Folk Museum, Newtonmore, September 2013, where the plant grows in abundance: The little purple (cotton ball like) flower, devil’s bit, was used long ago for women during menstruation [e-mail, September 2013].

Images: Hilly Fields Park, London Borough of Enfield; September 2015.

Any comments, further records, etc., would be much appreciated
