1. Are you aware of the Bristol Flower a.k.a. The Nonesuch Flower (namely Lychnis chalcedonica)? This plant is reputed to have been brought into Bristol by the Knights Templar (strong connection here) or by ships sailing in past times, into the port from the East. The name Nonesuch refers to the unique, permanent red colour it imparted to the Livery and Bonnets worn by the pupils of the Red Maids’ School, which was established in Bristol hundreds of years ago and still going strong [Devizes, Wiltshire, January 2013].
