40 million poppies

125According to the centre-spread in the Daily Star of 11 November 2016, the British Legion poppy factory, at Aylesford, Kent, has despatched 40 million poppies for ‘Britons around the world’ to wear to mark Armistice Day.

Four machines ‘carefully put together’ 500,000 poppies a week: ‘It’s more than just a job.  We think about all the soldiers and remember them every day.  This is for them.’

More than a million pounds comes from overseas orders: ‘We send to all the British Embassies, the war ships and to anyone who requests them.’
