Red-and-white string tied to a magnolia tree near the Tate Modern, London Borough of Southwark. The tree also had a couple of older pieces of string tied to it, presumably left over from 2021.
For further information see Baba Marta, 2020.
Photograph taken 12 March 2022.
Addenda: 1.Similar pieces of string noticed on a flowering cherry (Prunus cv.) tree between St Mary and St John the Divine church and Du Cane Court in Balham High Road, London Borough of Wandsworth, 18 March 2022. The strings on this tree all looked rather grubby and may have been placed there in 2021 or earlier.
2. One similar piece of string, looking clean and fresh tied, rather unusually to an oak (Quercus sp.) tree – not a blossom producing tree – in Fulwell Park, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 9 April 2022 (see lower photograph).
