Bumper mistletoe harvest

Despite rumours to the contrary, the 2012 mistletoe (Viscum album) harvest is a bumper one.
Jonathan Briggs, of the Tenbury Mistletoe Association in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, explained that ‘mistletoe flowers in February and March, when the weather was perfect’. However, the long-term outlook for the semiparasite may be less good, as it favours apple (Malus pumila) orchards, ‘which are falling into neglect’ [Daily Telegraph, 11 December 2012].
