Christmas trees, 2011

According to The Times of 21 November 2011, large Christmas trees, measuring over 7ft, will be in short supply and expensive this year. In recent years growers have tended to grow smaller trees, and Denmark and Norway, which usually export one million trees to the U.K., are expected to supply only 200,000 this year.
About eight million trees are sold in the U.K. each year, about 60% of which are Nordmann firs (Abies nordmanniana).
