We report with regret the death, in February 2021, of Erica Swale, long time companion of Hilary Belcher, who died in 2017 (see obituary elsewhere on this website).  Although Hilary and Erica were primarily phycologists, authorities on microscopic freshwater algae of which they produced a huge number of outstanding drawings, they also developed an interest in folklore, and contributed many notes to Plant-lore Notes & News (1988-2007),the precursor of the Plant-lore Archive website.
