Holy Thorn update, 4

056Visited Glastonbury on 16 December 2015.

The railings surrounding the dead tree on are still abundantly decorated with ribbons, on some of which messages are written in a variety of languages.  The empty railings in which a young tree had been unsuccessfully planted have been removed, and it appears that no attempt is being made to plant a replacement tree.

The Abbey was not visited, but the oldest of the trees in St John the Baptist’s churchyard was covered with blossom.  The two younger trees in the churchyard look unhealthy.

Four Seasons, a shop in the High Street, is offering cuttings of the Thorn, as ‘the ideal Christmas present’, at apparently £79 each.
