The World Nettle Eating Championship, formerly held at the Bottle Inn, Marshwood, on the Dorset/Devon border, failed to take place in 2011 (see News, 25 June 2011). In 2012 the event will be revived and held at the George Inn, Chideock, Dorset on Saturday 30 June, from noon to 11 p.m. The revived event will be known as the Great Dorset Nettle Eating Competition, and a prize of £100 will be awarded to ‘the person who eats the most nettles within an hour’.
