Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

No flowers in Lent – 3

Part of flower rota in St Peter’s (Anglican) church, Shaftesbury, Dorset, photographed 19 February 2024.¬† Flowers ‘have to be out by the 12th February’, presumably so that there are none in the church during Lent, which starts on 14 February.

St James’s, the other Anglican church in the town, had flowers¬† at least during the early days of Lent, including Sunday 18 February, when it hosted a Snowdrop Service.
