Note in St Edmundsbury, Suffolk, Cathedral Weekly Bulletin, Sunday 13 February 2022:
‘Palm crosses this year: We invite you to return palm crosses (distributed last year) and place them in the baskets near the Cathedral entrance, ready for the services on Ash Wednesday at 1.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. (2 March). By tradition the ash used for services on Ash Wednesday is made from last year’s Palm Crosses …’
Similarly a note in Holy Trinity church, Sloane Street, London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, newsheet for Sunday 27 February 2022 requested: ‘please return Palm Sunday Crosses from last year’s Palm Sunday for burning to create the Ash for use on Ash Wednesday’.
