Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Plant-lore Archive: April 2016

A good number of useful items were received following a Folklore Society conference in Norwich and a talk to the Friends of One Tree Hill, in the London Borough of Southwark.

6748 searches were made of the website during the month.

Progress on the publication of A Folk Flora remains disappointingly slow; despite the agent reporting on 29 March that he would ‘be drawing up a contract in the next few days’, nothing has materialised.  There has been a similar lack of progress on the development of the Facebook Group Plant-lore and Traditions.

Two minor publications were produced:

Cemetery plants: Bistort (Persicaria bistorta), Friends of Brompton Cemetery Magazine 53: 2-3.

The ash tree: a national treasure, evolve 27: 54-7.
