Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Plant-lore Archive: August 2013

Little collecting was attempted during the month, but information has steadily accumulated and the Archive now contains 6540 items of information from 1590 contributors.
It is disappointing that no one has responded to the appeal for information on wild plants collected for food (see News item 22 August 2013). Perhaps people are discouraged because they do not know the scientific/Latin names of the plants involved. These names are included on the website so that people who are unfamiliar with English names can find entries, but it is unnecessary for contributors to provide scientific names; they can be added by the compiler.
4275 searches were made of the website (down from 4578 in July).
