REMINDER: Autumn plant walk

Roy Vickery will be leading an Autumn Plant Walk on Streatham Common, London Borough of Lambeth, on Friday 2 October, starting at 11 a.m.; for details see the Events page of this website.

Report:  Only two people had booked for this event, both turned up, and we spent an enjoyable, though wet, 75 minutes wandering around, mainly examining trees.  Wide-ranging discussion included the desirability of planting trees rather than allowing natural regeneration, the threat of ash die-back, and plants which appear to be doing well at present, such as stinking iris, Iris foetidissima, and pendulous sedge, Carex pendula.
