Saturday 17 June: Plant Survey of West Norwood Cemetery, London Borough of Lambeth; for further information please see Events page on this website.
Report: Only five of us gathered for this event, but we were able to spend an enoyable and useful couple of hours recording and discussing the plants found in part of the Cemetery. It was agreed that we would pay another visit to continue our surveying sometime in August. In due course further information will be provided on the South London Botanical Institute’s website, and on this website.
‘Thank you so much for those couple of hours yesterday … Will definitely be coming again.’
Monday 19 June: Expedition to Farthing Downs and Happy Valley, London Borough of Croydon, meet at Coulsdon South station at 11.05, following the arrival of the 10.38 from London Victoria, probably returning on the 15.19 from Coulsdon South. Please bring a picnic lunch. All welcome.
Report: Five of us rambled around Happy Valley enjoying its chalk-grassland flora, including four of the five species of orchid recorded on the site. We also took the opportunity to visit Chaldon church and see its twelfth-century doom painting.
‘We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a beautiful walk’
