Veiled flowers

Posted on by royvickery |

In most, if not all, Roman Catholic churches statues and crucifixes are enclosed in purple cloth throughout Holy Week.  In the Igreja de Santa Cruz, Porto, Portugal, all the statues of saints, apart from that of Our Lady of Sorrows, were covered, and vases of flowers in front of the statues were covered with black, transparent veils.

Photographed 25 March 2024, the day after Palm Sunday.
