Spotted deadnettle

1. We as children used Lamium maculatum [spotted deadnettle] to treat nettle [Urtica dioica] stings. This, however, was done in a very small village in the Pyrenees. I cannot confirm that the procedure is done in all the Basque Country.
My understanding is that you need to apply something basic to neutralise the acidity of the sting. If it is that way, many different plants could be used for this purpose [London, N1, September 2013].
