1.  They call black bryony wild asparagus here (Ariège, Pyrenees), but more often by its local name respounchous. True wild asparagus is just that, Asparagus officinalis.  It grows sparsely in the U.K. I believe, whilst here in France it’s common in Provence [Seix, Ariège, France, April 2022].

2. 1 May 2004, near Trinidad de Arre, Navarra, Spain:  Saw people collecting young shoots of black bryony from hedge-banks, presumably for eating.
