According to the LondonĀ Evening StandardĀ of 12 September 2018, a pear (Pyrus communis) seedling from a tree which survived the attack on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 has be given to the Grenfell Tower community – survivors of fire on 14 July 2017, which devastated the tower-block in North Kensington, London, killing 72 people. According to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York the seedling is a ‘symbol of healing’.
