Note:  Streatham Cemetery is in Tooting, off Garratt Lane (not in Streatham).

Report:  c. 25 people, including several children, turned up on a rather chilly and grey day.  The part of the Cemetery which we usually explore had been strimmed recently, so we ventured off in a different direction though we discussed the usual plants, such as nettle (Urtica dioica), horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) and yarrow (Achillea millefolium).  We also admired star of Persia (Allium christophii) which appears to be becoming naturalised in south London cemeteries.  After about 75 minutes we headed for the chapel to enjoy elderflower cordial and honey cake.  The leader was rewarded not only by the sharing of participants’ memories, but also by receiving two jars of Dead Good Honey, produced by the Cemetery’s beehives.  Thank you.
