Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

1. I would like to tell you that I find celery to be very good for arthritis. My mother always used to say eat some celery for rheumatism, and [I] never realised what good advice this was until this year when I had quite a bad attack of both. The best way is to eat it raw, but I always add it to stews now and it certainly works wonders [Ospringe, Kent, April 1997].

2. My grandma and dad ate celery to ease/cure back pain [Prestayn, Clwyd, April 1994].
