1. Met a lady living on Alston Moor, Cumbria …  [as children they] gathered oot berries from the blanket bogs on the fells, Rubus chamaemorus  –  found oot bye as opposed to in bye [Melmerby, Cumbria, October 2017].

2. A local farmer who farms the area of the Northern Pennines on Cross Fell … told me that the time to return the sheep to the fells was when the cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) was coming into leaf in May.  Because of this the plant was called lambs leaf  [Penrith, Cumbria May 2016].
