Hickory

1.  In north Florida one of the growing seasons starts in late winter.  In 2011 I was talking with someone about when the last frosts occur, to know when to plant a winter to summer garden.  She said – ‘hickory knows’.  When the hickory trees (Carya sp.) leaf out it is safe to start planting [Starke, Florida, U.S.A., April 2015].
