Mouse-ear hawkweed

0371.  We used to collect mouse-ears from the common years ago and my mother made a cough mixture with it [Itchen, Hampshire, June 1993].

2.  Herbal cures used in the Ashford area of Kent:  my father boiled the roots of ‘mouse-ear’ (as he called it) witrh chemists’ liquorice to make a mixture for taking to alleviate coughs and colds.  It tasted vile and we were glad to get better! [Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, February 1991].
