Armistice Day 1925

Memorial ‘to the glorious dead’, Streatham Memorial Gardens, London Borough of Lambeth, photographed in 1925, presumably decorated for Armistice Day, 11 November (Remembrance Sunday, the Sunday nearest 11 November, was inaugurated in 1939).

Despite poppies being associated with Armistice Day since 1921, and poppy wreaths being produced by the British Legion from 1924, it appears that in 1925 the flowers used on the day in Streatham were predominantly white ones.
