Commemoration of King Charles I – 2021

Each year wreaths are usually attached to the plinth of the equestrian statue of King Charles I, and to the railings outside the Banqueting Hall, both in Whitehall, London, on 30 January, the anniversary of his execution.  Presumably as a result of Covid-19 no wreaths were left in either place in 2021.  At the base of the statue’s plinth two bunches of flowers were left, one bearing a card ‘From the Governor-General and Members of the Royal Stuart Society’.  While no wreath was attached to the Banqueting House railings, a small bunch of flowers was inserted at their base.

Photographs taken 31 January 2021.
