Japanese knotweed scare – 3

Posted on by royvickery |

083What appears to be the most excessive response to Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is this sign which has been displayed for several months on a piece of waste ground adjacent to West Brompton station, Earls Court, London.

Presumably, the Japanese knotweed (which cannot be seen) has been treated with a dangerous herbicide, but this is not clear from the notice, or perhaps whoever put the notice up was afraid that people would remove bits of the plant and spread it elsewhere, or perhaps they simply thought that contact with the knotweed was dangerous to humans.
