Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Plant-lore Archive: April 2019

Posted on by royvickery |

April was a satisfactory month with 23 items of information being received from an equal number of contributors, so that the Archive now contains 7935 contributions from 2387 contributors.

10,601 searches were made of the website, this being the highest number since May 2018.

Towards the end of the month computer problems meant that it was not possible to respond to correspondence received via the website.  It is hoped that these will soon be solved, and correspondents will receive replies.

Two publications were produced:

Mother-die: Plant names and folk beliefs, Folklore 130: 89-96.

Vickery’s Folk Flora, London: Weidenfeld & Nicolson.

Three reviews of the Flora have been seen so far, all are encouraging.
