Diana, Princess of Wales, died following a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997, so 2022 was the 25th anniversary of her death.

According to the Metro of 1 September 2022: ‘Crowds of people who laid flowers and messages to mark the death … proved that she is still out Queen of Hearts – 25 years after she was killed.’  In Paris flowers were placed around the Flame of Liberty statue above the tunnel where the accident occurred.

However, in London, outside Kensington Palace, it apppears that the 25th anniversary stimulated little additional activity, and, indeed, the decorations left there were only slightly more than those left on 1 July 2021, which would have been the Princess’s 60th birthday.
