Shamrock on sale in London, 30 March 2016

116009                                                                                                                                                                                   In an earlier note on St Patrick’s Day it was recorded that no shamrock was seen on sale in London.  However, on 30 March a florist in Hildreth Street, Balham, London Borough of Wandsworth, had potted shamrock plants, presumably left over from St Patrick’s Day, for sale at £1.50 each.  They appeared to be immature plants of lesser trefoil (Trifolium dubium), though the markings on the leaf shown on the plastic labels seemed to suggest that they were white clover (T. repens).
