Snapdragon

0441. 1980s, London and Kent – my dad made talking faces out of snapdragons, whistles out of grass (broad grass), and stroked the backs of bumblebees to entertain us kids [Autumn Festival of the Great North Wood, Beaulieu Heights, London, October 2022].

2.  Local names of plants …  bunny mouths = antirrhinum.  Children’s games … pressing the sides of antirrhinum flowers to make the ‘mouth’ open and close [Wormshill, Kent, May 2003].

3.  Names my friends and I in our childhood days of the 20s and 30s used for some plants in and around Burghead, Moray …  antirrhinum – mappie’s mou [Edinburgh, October 1991].
