We are grateful to Pauline Entwisle who in 1998 supplied this photo of her friend Mrs  Houben of New Malden, Surrey, showing her, aged 4½ and her brother aged 6¼ with their May garland, which incorporates her favourite teddy bear, in Werrington, now a suburb of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, May 1921.

Posted in memory of Pauline, who died recently at the age of 91.  She was a valued long-term volunteer at the Natural History Museum, working in the Museum’s Wildlife Garden and contributing to its popular Nettle Days, and as a industrious plant-mounter.
