Report: A total of c.25 people apparently enjoyed these walks. The first which started at the entrance to the town’s spectacular Memorial Gardens concentrated on wayside and
grassland plants; the second which started beside a rapidly drying-out but still attractive pond, concentrated more on woodland plants, consequently we were able avoid the afternoon heat. Plants discussed on both walks included the usual bramble (Rubus fruticosus), elder (Sambucus nigra) and stinging nettle (Urtica dioica).
‘The walks were really enjoyed by everyone.’
