AJEX Remembrance Parade, 2025

AJEX, ‘the Jewish Military Association’, held its annual Remembrance Parade and Ceremony at the Cenotaph, in Whitehall, London, on Sunday 16 November, starting at 2 p.m. and continuing for about an hour.

This event started in 1921 when a number of Jewish veterans of World War I (the Great War) laid a wreath at the Cenotaph.

‘The Parade is an opportunity to show our pride as Jews contributing to British society, past and present …  Veterans, individuals, families and community groups of all ages are welcome.’

The 2025 event marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Numerous Jewish organisations and two military bands paraded from Horse Guards Parade to the Cenotaph, where a service, led by the Chief Rabbi, was held, the Last Post sounded, two minutes silence was observed, and a large number of wreaths laid ‘to honour and remember the thousands of  Jewish servicemen and women who served for our Nation’s freedom’.
