Photograph used as a postcard and posted in Bristol on 28 August 1923, unfortunately the message, to a woman in Brislington in the southeast of the city, is written in faint pencil and cannot be read. However, a post-it note attached to the card reads: ‘my father blackberrying [gathering fruit of Rubus fruticosus] in 1923 – can’t identify anyone else and can’t read the writing.’
