The King’s Army of the English Civil War Society held its annual commemoration of the ‘horrendous murder’ of King Charles I on 30 January 1649, roughly following the route of his final walk from St James Palace to the Banqueting House in Whitehall.

The event was well attended by well disciplined members of the Army (no use of mobile phones!), and attracted a great many spectators,  most of whom were probably tourists who happened to be in that part of London at that time.  A small number of members of the Army wore sprigs of rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) on their hats, presumably in remembrance of the King.
