We have received a comment that Norfolk is under represented on our Local Names page. Possibly this is so. Norfolk has received little attention compared with counties such as Devon, where the Report and Transactions of the Devonshire Association has included dialect reports since 1876, and Somerset and adjacent counties, from which A.S. Macmillan collected names for inclusion in his Popular Names of Flowers, Fruits, etc. (1922).
The Local Names page lists names extracted from a wide range of publications or collected by its compiler. If anyone knows of any Norfolk (or other) local names which can be added to the list, please send them to roy@plant-lore.com
