Easter gardens – 5

Posted on by royvickery |

Easter garden constructed at the base of the font, Holy Trinity, Sloane Street, London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, photographed 20 April, three days after Easter, 2022.

The garden was blessed towards the conclusion of the 11 a.m.  Sung Eucharist on Easter Day:

‘The children process to the Easter Garden and the congregation face the font for The Blessing of the Easter Garden.

Priest:  Alleluia. Christ is risen.

All: He is risen indeed.  Alleluia.

Priest: Risen Lord Jesus, as Mary Magdalen met you in the garden on the morning of your resurrection, so may we meet you today and every day: speak to us as you spoke to her; reveal yourself as the living Lord; renew our hope and kindle our joy; and send us to share the good news with others.

All:  Amen.

The children then parade in their Easter Bonnets back to the chancel steps where the Priest blesses the Easter Eggs and hands them out to each child.’

Comment by Carlos Bruzon, April 2022: ‘I have never seen such gardens in Catholic churches in Spain.’
