Egg tree, Shoreham, Kent

Posted on by royvickery |

The egg-trees which are occasionally prepared at Eastertide in England, usually consist of small artificial eggs hung on bare twigs, placed in a vase, indoors.  It seems that such trees are an import from North America, having originally travelled there from Germany.

This tree, outside the Ye Olde George Inn, in Shoreham, Kent, is very different, and is more like a Christmas tree, a fir tree decorated with plastic eggs.

Thanks to Marlowe Russell who brought this to our attention.
