Hawa Abdi Sharige, a Somalian woman who had lived with her son on a bench outside Tooting Library, in Mitcham Road, in the London Borough of Wandsworth, died on the 31 December 2021.  Although the local council had offered them housing on, it is said, over 100 occasions, the pair preferred to live on the bench which they had occupied since 2015.

The photograph, taken on the day of her funeral at a local mosque, 3 January 2022, shows artificial roses placed on the Library railings behind the now empty bench.
