The municipal council of the village of Zarozje in western Serbia has advised inhabitants to use garlic (Allium sativum) to ward off Sava Savanovic, ‘one of Serbia’s most famous vampires’. The vampire is said to have reawakened following the collapse a ruined mill, reputedly his resting place [Daily Telegraph, 1 December 2012].
