For a brief history of ghost bikes see the earlier item ‘Ghost Bike in Lewisham’ on this website.  These white-painted bicycles, often decorated with artificial flowers, are placed at the sites of accidents in which cyclists have been killed.  The bike shown here is in the middle of Notting Hill Gate, London, attached to railings which bear a small plaque reading  ‘Eilidh Jake Cairns 1978-2009’.
