Phillip Thorne, a Waitrose chef aged 48, won the World Nettle Easting Championship, held at the Bottle Inn, Marshwood, on 7 June 2014.  He ate the leaves from 24m (80ft) of nettle (Urtica dioica) stems, breaking a 13-year-old record.
