No red roses for Burns

Wreath placed by the Burns Club of London at the base of a statue of the Scottish poet Robert Burns in Embankment Gardens, Westminster for Burns Night, 25 January, 2022.¬† Unusually the wreath contains no red roses, in reference to Burns’ poem ‘My love is like a red, red rose’, or the Eryngium¬†which is often used as ‘Scottish thistle’ in wreaths.

Photographed 28 January 2022.
