Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Plant-lore Archive: December 2017

Posted on by royvickery |

Work during the final month of the year concentrated on the writing of  Vickery’s Folk Flora, the text of which, amounting to 286,777 words, was sent to its publishers on 28 December.  The colour plates still need to be sorted, and it is hoped that this work will be completed within the next few days.

Inevitably other work was neglected, and only four items of information were added to the Archive, which now contains 7618 items from 2158 contributors.

5375 searches were made of the website during the month.  Again we remind people wanting information on any particularly species to do a separate search for that species on the Local Names page, where further material may be available.  And, of course, only a small amount of the total information in the Archive is included on the website, so it might be worth contacting the compiler and asking what else is available.
