In 2014 900,000 ceramic red poppies (Papaver rhoeas) were ‘planted’ in the moat of the Tower of London, to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.  The installation was extremely popular and viewed by thousands of tourists and others.

From 6 May until the 11 November 2025 poppies are again displayed at the Tower to commemorate the end of the Second World War.   ‘Almost 30,000  ceramic poppies cascade down the White Tower, creating a stunning visual spectacle.’  However, while the 2014 installation could be viewed by people from outside, the 2025 installation is inside the Tower, so people need to pay – ‘book now from £35.80’ – if they want to see it.
