Poppies, a general symbol of death – 1

Other entries on this website comment on how poppy wreaths sometimesĀ  seem to be placed on inappropriate monuments, such as those which commemorate Joseph James Jones on Tooting Common, London Borough of Wandsworth, and Joseph Paxton, in Crystal Palace Park, London Borough of Bromley.

A booklet entitledĀ Bereavement, picked up at theĀ  Information Centre at Crewkerne, Somerset, in October 2017, has common poppies (Papaver rhoeas) on its cover, suggesting that the poppy is now considered to be symbolic of death, regardless of how that death occurred.
