The Munster Express of 8 January 1943 reported the following:
An old New Year custom in the form of ‘Penny for Daisy’ was carried out as usual by the children on New Year’s Day and large numbers of children collected the first flower of 1943 and received pennies for them.
This appears to be the only record of this custom; further records and any comments would be much appreciated.
