The Friends of Wandsworth Common’s annual Prison Bank Wild Flower Walk, will be held on Wednesday 18 June, starting at 7.00 p.m. and continuing for c.75 minutes.  There is no charge for this walk, but booking is required; places are still available, for further details see the Events page on this website.

Report:  The number of participants on this walk is restricted to 15, and in other years we have achieved that number and had a waiting list.  This year only eight people booked.  However, after an exceptionally hot day we were able to enjoy a slow 75 minute amble in the coolness of the evening.  Most of the usual plants were found, but we were unable to find grass vetchling, Lathyrus nissolia.  This species flowers for about a fortnight each year, and is difficult to find at other times; presumably it had finished flowering for this year.
